I'm Lucy, a qualified therapeutic counsellor and registered member of the BACP.

Human connection has always been at the heart of my working life. Before becoming a counsellor, my background was in early years and education, where I was first introduced to attachment theory and the idea of a secure base — the importance of having someone who helps us to feel safe enough to explore, grow and flourish.

Through both my professional and personal experiences, I've come to understand just how important our relationships can be in shaping the way we see ourselves and the world around us. I've also seen the growth that can happen when we experience a relationship where we feel safe, understood and accepted.

This is what I hope to create in the therapy room. My training as a relational integrative therapist has taught me the importance of the relationship we build together, and I believe feeling safe, understood, and accepted can provide a secure base from which you can begin to explore yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that have developed throughout your life. I see therapy as a space where, through the relationship we develop together, you can begin to understand yourself with greater compassion and perhaps experience relationships in new ways.

Sometimes, the ways we learn to cope or protect ourselves make perfect sense in the context of our earlier experiences, but may no longer serve us as we move through life. I believe that, with the right support, we can begin to understand these patterns with compassion and explore new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
