Who I am
I’m Lucy Adams, a therapist providing sessions in Henley-on-Thames and online. I’m responsible for deciding how your personal information is used (“the data controller”).
You can contact me about your information at lucyadamstherapy@outlook.com
ICO registration number, if applicable: ZC245860
What information I collect
Depending on how you contact or work with me, I may collect your name and contact details, the information you choose to include in an enquiry, appointment and booking details, payment records, and information relevant to providing therapy. Therapy information may include details about your health, circumstances and the topics discussed in sessions.
Please keep information in website enquiries brief. You can contact me to discuss how to share sensitive information more appropriately.
How I use your information
I use your information to respond to enquiries, arrange and provide therapy, manage appointments, communicate with you, keep appropriate records, receive payments and meet legal or professional obligations.
I don’t use your therapy information to make automated decisions about you.
My lawful bases
For ordinary personal information, I rely on the lawful basis that applies to the purpose—for example, taking steps at your request before therapy or providing an agreed service, meeting legal obligations.
Services that handle information for me
I use the following services in running my practice:
Squarespace for my website and enquiry form.
Microsoft Outlook for email.
WriteUpp for bookings.
Zoom for online sessions.
Starling Bank to receive and record bank payments.
Google Analytics, if connected to my website, to understand website visits. Analytics cookies are used only in line with visitors’ cookie choices.
These providers may process information as part of the services they provide.
Confidentiality and when information may be shared
I treat information shared in therapy as confidential. I may share information where you ask or agree that I do so, where I’m legally required to, or where I consider disclosure necessary because of a serious risk of harm or a safeguarding concern. Where it is appropriate and safe, I will try to discuss this with you first.
I undertake regular clinical supervision to reflect on and develop my professional practice. Supervision focuses on my work as a therapist rather than on clients as identifiable individuals. Where client-related material is relevant, I keep details brief and do not share full names or other direct identifying information.
How long I keep information
I keep therapy records for seven years after our first session, then securely delete or destroy them unless there is a lawful reason to keep them longer.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of your personal information, ask me to correct it, or ask me to restrict or erase it. You may also have the right to object to certain uses or request transfer of information. These rights can depend on the circumstances and may be subject to legal exceptions.
To make a request, email lucyadamstherapy@outlook.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
